We are proud to share that Vindral has been named a recipient of a 2026 Technology & Engineering Emmy® Award by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS), in the category Web-Based Frame-Accurate Remote Monitoring Systems for Distributed Broadcast Production.
We share the category with SipRadius, NBCUniversal, Grass Valley, CBS Sports, Disney, Game Creek and Amazon. The awards will be presented on 14 October at the Television Academy’s Saban Media Center in North Hollywood, where our CEO Daniel Alinder and Ian Jefferson will be there to accept it on behalf of the team.
Why this award
The Technology & Engineering Emmy® Award recognises the tool makers of the television industry, the companies whose technology changes how programmes are made and watched. Previous recipients include Apple, Sony, Netflix and YouTube. This year’s category honours the technology that made high-quality, real-time production from distributed locations possible during the pandemic, and that has since become the normal way of working for broadcasters, cable networks and streaming platforms.
What the technology does
At the heart of it is frame-accurate synchronisation. Everyone in a distributed production sees the exact same frame at the exact same moment, wherever they are, in an ordinary browser. That is what lets directors, producers and engineers work together from different locations without specialised hardware, confident that they are all looking at the same picture.
It is the same foundation that runs across the Vindral platform today, from ultra-low latency delivery with Vindral Live to production with Vindral Composer. We are one of the few companies running Media over QUIC (MoQ) in production with real audiences, and earlier this year our technology carried SVT’s live production during the Winter Games, from venue ingest in Italy to finished programme feeds.
In our own words
“This is confirmation that the technology we build in northern Sweden belongs on the world stage. Being recognised alongside some of the world’s largest media companies says something about what a focused team can achieve by solving the right problem the right way,” says Daniel Alinder, CEO.
“The award honours solutions that let production teams work frame-accurately from different locations, in the browser, without specialised hardware. That is exactly the kind of problem we love, where latency decides whether a production works at all,” says Per Mafrost, CTO.
Thank you to our customers and partners who have trusted us with their live productions along the way. We will share more from Los Angeles in October.
