With NAB coming up and a lot of activity around Media over QUIC, it’s likely a good moment to share where Vindral actually is with it. Many demos are being announced and there’s considerable hype, which is great for both the industry as a whole and any company looking to modernize their streaming workflow.
Our perspective differs a bit, since we’ve moved into production; from our end it makes most sense to share some early insights based on real-world usage data. We started rolling out MoQ in 2025. The implementation spans the full pipeline, from ingest to last-mile delivery. We have been deliberately gradual about it: expanding to real traffic in stages, collecting data at each step, and making sure we understand what we are seeing before taking next steps.
What we are sharing at NAB
The performance data we have gathered so far has been shared with the OpenMOQ project. It will get its first public presentation at the Streaming Summit session “OpenMOQ and MoQ: A Collaborative Effort,” on April 20 from 4 to 5pm. The session is open to anyone holding an exhibits pass for NAB, so do not miss out!
As we progress further, more data is collected and we are planning on releasing further insights gradually. One important aspect for us is to be clear on what we’re sharing; since MoQ is one of the tools in our toolbox as opposed to a one-trick we aim to release truly interesting data our own perspective, as a provider of live streaming with customizable latency. MoQ is larger than our part of the market and therefore more voices should also be heard.
See it in action
Our QoS demo page is running a live stream delivered end-to-end over MoQ. Follow this link if you want to see what it looks like in practice. Naturally, if you’d prefer an in-person demo or want an account to try it with your own content, just reach out to our team!
More to come
If you find yourself in Europe in late May, you may want to look into Streaming Tech Sweden, where our CTO Per Mafrost will be sharing more of our experiences from the early days of MoQ. These are exciting times, and remember: It’s just the beginning!
